really, i kept whizzing by the fighting games (even the ones i hadn't heard of) because they had stuff like Crazy Taxi and half of the House of the Deads, haha. Tizoc - sorry, not my pics so i know they're fuzzy, and again i spent like 90% of my time at Planet Harriers, haha.almost 100% certain they had SSF4 though. TONX - whoah, what place in lauderdale are you talking about? i wanna check that out man! i was checking the rules to make sure this thread wasn't outside of em, but i think i'm good, so i'd say you should be too if you're inclined, man. In my mind, arcades and comic shops have a pretty hard time, even in big cities like this - but there's still a scene, so i really wanna support this one, you know? again the whole thing looks not only well done (and expensive.), but the bit about them taking requests kinda blows my mind. i remember reading a thread on here about a spot like that in Vegas, my buddy's on this season of Ultimate Fighter and i'm hoping to go out there for the finals.if i only see one other thing in that city, it's gonna be that spot. Anyway, at the risk of being (overly) viral, here's some pics from their site so ya'll can see what i'm on about:ĭarkmakaimura - man, an arcade/bar sounds pretty awesome. it was really cool seeing someone/people who have love for the scene put so much effort/$ into something like this, so i wanted to make any other south florida Gaffers aware of the joint.Īlso, They've got a Street Fighter x Tekken tourney coming up 4/28 3pm, my girl's family is part of the FGC down here so i'm prolly gonna go to cheer them on. Their facebook page shows that they respond to fan requests, and recently put in Super Bubble Bobble. In the back, they rent out nice 3DTVs & force-feedback chairs attached to mostly standard stuff like COD, Sonic Generations etc, but the other side had some absolute gems like Espgaluda, which i gotta see on that screen even if i die pretty quick. I wish id've had time to try that Fist of the North Star punching game. i & my friend wisely spent our time (finally!) playing Planet Harriers, one that'd been on my list as an old-school sega fan since Teknopathetic introduced me to it on another thread last year or so (he was right, it was really cool). Our scene has been almost entirely dead since the passing of Flipper's in the early 2000's, with maybe an exception at Mall of the Americas.īut yeah, this place was awesome! I only had about a half hour before closing when i got there, but i was really impressed - nice Midway pinball games, dual-screen classic X-Men, fighters (and rare J ones too) galore, and the place was immaculately kept. All I could say to that was, " Thanks".Okay, apparently they've been around for a few months now, so they're only new to me - but i wanted to make this thread because that's part of the problem right there, i was lucky to find out from a friend recently.
